A new cycle tower for Saarbrücken Central Station

A modern cycle tower is being built on the forecourt of Saarbrücken Central Station to provide secure and convenient cycle parking.

 

With a floor area of around 67 m², the tower offers space for 132 bicycles – with a load capacity of up to 41 kg per bicycle.

Flexible parking:
Parking spaces can only be booked via an app – either on the spur of the moment or as part of a long-term hire.

Sustainable operation:
Power is supplied by the photovoltaic system installed on the roof. At night, the cycle tower is powered by a battery storage system.

Architecture meets art:
As part of a ‘Art in Architecture’ competition, the Veloturm is designed not only to be functional but also to blend seamlessly into Saarbrücken’s cityscape. Many thanks to our partner André Stocker for developing the design study.

Investment: approx. 1.5 million euros
The project is funded by the Federal Office for Logistics and Mobility.

Planned completion: 3rd quarter of 2027

This will create a key component for modern, sustainable and cycle-friendly mobility at Saarbrücken Central Station.
